Shimano TLD 2-Speed vs All Metal Reels

There is something special about buying an all metal offshore fishing reel.  There's something alluring about a shiny gold or silver big game reel as opposed to a dull black graphite one.  The fact remains that the bling factor aside, the dull graphite reel is a better value.

At J&H Closeouts we recommend the recently redone Shimano TLD 2-Speed reels.  Available in 30 and 50 sizes, these reels have proved time and again to take the rigors of offshore fishing.

We have sold thousands of Shimano TLD reels over the years and i can't remember getting a ingle one back.  These are excellent reels and cost almost half that of a Penn International Reel. There has been a rumor that under pressure, the graphite bottom of the reel snaps off.  This is untrue.  The reel foot is metal and i have never seen this happen.  If there is a fault with the Shimano TLD 2-Speed Reels, it is that Shimano did not design a clamp set for the 30 that will allow the owner to put in the clamp screws after the reel has been filled with line.  This feature is available on the 50, but on the 30, you have to slide the screws in through the center of the reel.

Pick up a Shimano TLD 2-Speed Reel.  You won't be disappointed.

Sincerely,
Josh
